Naoi's Death

Is it just me, or is Naoi's death linked to the scene where he finally gets his father's approval? I mean, when he and his brother fall, they're underneath a tree with a broken branch, which suggests that they were climbing the tree and fell. Remember that the only time Ayato ever got his father's approval is when the two twins were climbing the tree and he grabbed the fruit before his brother did.

Is it possible that Ayato wanted to keep climbing taller and taller trees to win his father's approval and eventually he and his brother fell, causing his twin's death? It would definitely tie into his guilt over his brother's death.

Actually I highly doubt it was suicide. It was stated in the anime that those who have commited suicide do not get sent to afterlife.

Though this theory sounds pretty legit.

Yuri actually was killed when she tried to get the most expensive thing in her house, and what if Naoi actually was killed from pottery shards?

I highly doubt Yuri was correct about people who commit suicide can't go there. Heck, she didn't even know of the Afterlife School's existence until she died. She probably assumed it since none of the SSS members had killed themselves so she probably thought so.

It still remains a mystery on how Yuri and Naoi died. Not even the manga gave us any clues.

Honestly I think Yuri purposely lied about how people don't get sent to the afterlife if they commit suicide so Otonashi wouldn't think she did. You remember when he asked her if she did and she got VERY offensive and started shouting about how it wasn't suicide? Yeah, I think she commited suicide because she failed to protect her siblings.
