Kanade and Yuzuru

Hello, I don´t understand to one thing.

Yuzuru died first and donated heart to Kanade, so she was still alive when Yuzuru died.

But when Yuzuur apears in the afterworld, Kanade is already there as angel, and in the end she says that she was waiting for him.

How is that event posibble that she was already there?

It is theorized that Yuzuru was drifting between worlds and since he lived a fulfilled life he wasn't meant to go to the afterlife, but he lost his memories during the drift making him enter the afterlife as result. This means that the travel between these two worlds can be different for people.

Another could be that Kanade was never going to leave the afterlife because her reason for staying would be impossible because Yuzuru lived a fulfilled life so some higher force made it so he lost his memories to go to the afterlife to solve this problem.

Lastly which I think is most likely is that this is the supernatural plane of existence. The fundamentals of this world are different from that of their known reality. Things like time, space, and matter may be different in this plane or have no true relevance in the world of the Atferlife.

Similar to what Yuri said in the first episode: Don't try to understand everything, instead accept everything as it is.

I think you're right about both, Yuzuri ended up helping everyone disappear in the end. So there must have been a purpose to hime being sent there.

TIME IS IRRELEVENT IN THE WORLD OF THE AFTERLIFE! The main purpose of the world the class of SSS were in was to have a allow them to be able to move on with no regret. I assume that since Kanade was there so long and showed no hope of leaving the afterlife, this system needed to solve this problem by bringing Yuzuru into the equation.

Another theory is that this is not the same Yuzuru that died in the real world. This Yuzuru could have been a fabricated copy created by the world in order to remove Kanade. It would be sad if it was.

There are many different interpretation ways. MY favorit is that the time in the afterlife is not a stright line of events. In the 12 episode we get to know that a porson who insanely in love wrote a program to save Souls when they stay to long in the world. I think it is Otonashi who waitet aons for Angel to come back but she didnt. He did his live as a president but got insane threw the stedy losing of friends. So he decided to make something that can save everyone whitout him being there. He wrote the program which helps people fullfilling their dream. a god like program. After writung this program a reincarnated and met Angel again (normal ending).

The time Paradoxon went back to normal threw the God-Program. Because without the other one nobody could exist

To me, Shiina's existence in the afterlife basically states that the afterlife completely ignores time. According to her, I can infer that she comes from Feudal Japan. So. when people die, their souls get flung around a bit and enter the afterlife, regardless of time. So, Kanade and Otonashi could have arrived at different times due to time being nonexistent.

My theory was that Otonashi's soul reincarnated many times. Eventually his soul finally awakened in the afterlife many years after Kanade died in the real world. That theory presents many more questions / problems, though, so I'm just gonna go with the time paradox theory.

I like the theory that says time is non existent, but I also like the theory of yuzuru reincarnating multiple times. The former is cooler but the latter is more realistic. But who needs logic? It's the afterlife!

I like to think that Yuzuru wasnt able to go to the after life until Kanade died, because his heart was still alive, in Kanade. That and different planes of time. I mean in a world where matter can be created and destroyed, there isn any reason to think time would flow normaly.

I always thought that there was a heaven that they would all go to once they had accepted their fates and come to terms with what had happened to them, then, after some time, they would leave this heaven, lose all their memories as they made their way back to Earth to be reincarnated.  So, Otonashi died and went straight to this heaven and spent a number of years there.  While he was there, Kanade had the heart transplant, lived a long life and died with the regret from her high school years that she never got to thank the person who gave her her new heart.

Some time later, as all spirits eventually do, Otonashi left behind heaven and his memories and set out to go back to Earth, however, he was involved in the regret of Kanade, so, along the way, his spirit got misled as spirits going into heaven on the same route normally do, to a place where he could resolve the issue involving him.  His spirit is set to go to Earth after he leaves the high school, but, it might be difficult for him leave because, although the issue that tied him there was solved, it wasn't actually his issue that got resolved.  Some years later, he finally manages to leave, all the while Kanade has been in heaven and has decided to go back to Earth, allowing them to reincarnate around the same time and meet on the street as we see in the final seconds of the show.

That's how I've spent the last few years rationalising that to myself, feel free to point out any holes, I've shared this with 2 other people who have yet to come back to me with any gapping holes in my theory.

Otonashi was the programmer mentioned in the scene with Yuri and all the computers. He died on earth, came to the afterlife and was waiting for his love, the one who physically has his heart, Kanade. Otonashi got tired of waiting, got angry, and programmed the NPC's to not allow love in this universe. He made himself an NPC, and as mentioned in the anime, people can come out of NPC state. When he subconsciously felt his heart alive in the afterlife, he came out with no memories, and eventually found Tachibana and love prevailed
